Since the need of each client varies, I have broken down my interior design process so that prior to hire there is an understanding of the scope of work associated with each step to completion.
The following items are essential in creating not only a beautiful space but will foster a relationship where communication is open and abundant.
The most important is the initial collaborative client designer interview. This is a meeting of discovery. There is no design or consultation involved and should take no more that an hour.
It is for the client to share what there needs are and what they believe the scope of work to be. It is my job to indicate how best to work with each other and explain in detail what to expect and what the options are.
It’s important we have synergy and it is at this point that you may choose to get started! The following procedure is essential in creating not only a beautiful space but it will foster a relationship where communication is open and flowing.
I prefer to create a floor plan for the work desired. Specific details are illustrated so that a comprehensive list of items can be produced and a budget can be created.
After meeting with me you will have a clear understanding of what it will take to move forward.
I take your cue and the insight gained from discussing the floor plan, taking into consideration the budget established at the prior meeting, and begin sourcing for the various items.
If there are any construction or millwork needs, at this point I would bid out the work to my contractors. Window treatment styles are also addressed. Preliminary decisions are made on products needed for the space and a decision on a contractor if needed, is vital.
Inspiration for the space is presented to you in the form of a mood board. Fabric, flooring, paint color and assorted elements are brought together to allow you to feel your room and make it more tangible.

Last minute changes and sourcing can be done at this point. The space is yours and needs to suit you perfectly.
The last and most exciting phase is the installation and will be broken down by the needs of the specific client.
This process can take anywhere from one day to a week, again depending on the extent of the project and needs of the client.
